Membership in CIPS
By believing that IT is a profession and that IT workers are professionals, then these same professionals have an obligation to themselves, and to their peers, to support that profession.
CIPS is the way to demonstrate that commitment to protecting the profession. Whether or not members carry the I.S.P. designation to demonstrate their commitment to the profession, it is the membership that is important.

We are the Canadian Information Processing Society Section of Ottawa and we are open to IT Professionals just like you. People who understand that their chosen occupation is a serious career, one worth investing in.
- Professional Certification – Demonstrate your commitment to professionalism by obtaining your I.S.P. designation. Only CIPS offers the I.S.P. (Information Systems Professional) which will soon be a recognized, legislated professional designation. Join the I.S.P. holders across Canada - a designation that guarantees professionalism and that many employers now specify in recruiting advertisements.

- Partnership with DPI - The Association of Public Sector Information Professionals (DPI) is a volunteer not-for-profit Canadian organization that promotes the development of public sector professionals and the effective application of Information Management and Technology (IM/IT) in the Federal Government of Canada and other public sector jurisdictions. CIPS Ottawa and DPI have ongoing participation in each other's events, ex-officio representation on the other's Board of Directors and various initiatives the two organizations are actively involved working on. Membership applications for the Ottawa section of CIPS are processed by the CIPS national office headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, as they are for all sections.
