Congratulations to our 2005 CIPS Ottawa Scholarship Recipients

Each year CIPS Ottawa provides student scholarships to outstanding students in the Computer Sciences field. The candidates must be enrolled in programs that are accredited by CIPS National. Those programs are found at both the University of Ottawa and at Carleton University. Each student this year receives a scholarship in the amount of $750 from CIPS Ottawa.

This year’s recipients are pictured below receiving their scholarships from Rob Tait, President, CIPS Ottawa. They are:

Max Kovalenkov, University of Ottawa

A successful 4th year student in the Coop Honours BSc in Computer Science (Information and Management Systems option), Max Kovalenkov has demonstrated good academic achievements and proven leadership skills through involvement in extracurricular activities at the University of Ottawa. Max has been an executive member of the Computer Science Students Association, volunteered with the Foot Patrol, participated in running the Winter Challenge and took part in the election process of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa. In addition, through his coop placements Max has gained work experience as a junior systems engineer and a computer lab technician. His studies in computer science have sparked his interest in the various ways that applications can communicate and exchange information through the web, as well as standardization processes that are vital to easing this communication.

Milan Novakov, Carleton University

Milan Novakov was selected by the School of Computer Science as this year’s recipient of the CIPS Ottawa Scholarship. Mr. Leo Bertossi, Associate Director of the School of Computer Science, was a huge supporter of Milan in his nomination.
