What is a CIPS Ottawa Partner?

A CIPS Ottawa Partner is a not-for-profit organization with the same mission, goals and approach of supporting IM/IT professionals and its greater community. Our partners offer preferred rates to their events; promote and advance professionalism and the I.S.P. designation; support the IM/IT community by offering networking opportunities; and facilitate the sharing of IM/IT issues, best practices, standards, trends and initiatives.

Association of Public Sector Information Professionals (DPI)

The Association of Public Sector Information Professionals (DPI) is a volunteer not-for-profit Canadian organization that promotes the development of public sector professionals and the effective application of Information Management and Technology (IM/IT) in the Federal Government of Canada and other public sector jurisdictions.

CIPS Ottawa and DPI have ongoing participation in each other's events, ex-officio representation on the other's Board of Directors and various initiatives the two organizations are actively involved working on.

Further to CIPS Ottawa's local partnership with DPI, CIPS National has an affiliate agreement with DPI and recognizes them as an affiliate society.

Affiliate Societies - CIPS National

Members of associations with which CIPS has Affiliate Agreements can be granted I.S.P. certification without having to become full Members of CIPS. Instead, they can become Associate Members of CIPS. An associate membership allows individuals to become certified, but does not allow them to enjoy any CIPS benefits or other privileges. For a member of an affiliate society to join as an Associate member, they need to apply for their I.S.P. designation.
