  • network with IT professionals - meet and interact, on a first-name basis, with a wide range of IT-related professionals
  • be part of a team that operates both locally and nationally

CIPS Ottawa Scholarships

Each year the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) Ottawa Section provides student scholarships to outstanding students in a full-time Computer Science/Software Engineering Program. The candidates must be enrolled in programs that are accredited by CIPS National. Those programs are found at both the University of Ottawa and at Carleton University.  Each student receives a scholarship in the amount of $1500 from CIPS Ottawa. To learn more click here.

Getting Involved

One of CIPS Ottawa's priorities is to build and maintain a strong relationship with the student community. To do so CIPS Ottawa welcomes oppotunities to assist schools in running In-School Promotions and/or getting involved in exclusive student events. If your school is interested in either of these programs more details have been provided below.

In-School Promotion Campaign

Designing and implementing a renewed student dimension requires a heightened awareness of the CIPS value proposition. CIPS Ottawa has identified three potential conduits to communicate the renewed CIPS identity:

  1. A team of CIPS representatives are available to deliver an in-school presentation about CIPS at the request of your educational institution;
  2. Faculty-to-student communication through CIPS promotional materials (includes posters and brochures) and in-class CIPS endorsements;
  3. Student Liaison to handle all student inquiries.

Organizing an Event with the help of CIPS Ottawa

If your school is interested in either the In-School Promotion and/or the exclusive student events, here is what we require of your educational institution:

  1. Identify a Student Liaison to handle all student inquiries and to act as a point of contact for our CIPS Student Program committee;
  2. Provide the location (classroom, auditorium) for any In-School presentations you wish to have;
  3. Handle all registrations for your students who wish to attend the two exclusive student events.

To get started, please contact our Student Program Co-Chair for 2008-2009, Inaana Abboud at inaana.abboud@acdi-cida.gc.ca.
